About This Item

Two-page hand-written letter by H.G. Wells, matted and framed, along with a photographic portrait reproduction of the author. The letter measures 4" x 6 1/2" and the entire frame measures 21" x 13". See photo please. The letter is written on paper blind-stamped "Shade House Sandgate". Shade House was Wells" home from 1901-1909, so we must assume that he wrote it sometime during that period. The letter conveys Wells' apologies that he will be unable to meet with a Mr. Rothstein. A very clean letter, creased in the middle for placement into an envelope. Herbert George Wells (1866-1946) was an English writer in many disciplines. He is best known for his science fiction novels, such as "The Time Machine", "The War of the Worlds", "The Invisible Man". .
