Wilton, CT: June 25, 1956., 1956.. Fine. - Letter penned in black ink and filling one side of a 9 inch high by 6-3/8 inch wide cream sheet of his personalized letterhead with his name & address printed in blue at the top. Signed "Edmund". Folded twice for mailing. Fine.

Brunner writes to Columbia Teachers College professor Harold Rugg: "I have re read yours of Apr. 3rd. Since I've heard nothing further from you or from Puerto Rico I take it the legislature did not approve the plan you developed there. Hence at the conference of our department heads and project directors the end of this week at Hanover to lay plans for 1957 I will assume that if necessary I can use January at the Bureau...".

Edmund de Schwinitz Brunner [1889-1973] earned B.A., Ph.D. and B.D. degrees from Moravian College and Seminary. He was successively a pastor, Moravian church representative on the Rural Church Commission of the Federal Council of Churches, Director of Rural Investigations of the Institute for Social and Religious Research, and a professor at Columbia University Teachers College. He lectured on rural sociology and also taught in Australia and New Zealand. He was the author of several books and is best known for his study of the role of the church in the rural community.
