Black-and-white photographic frontispiece of author and his wife. The text is illustrated with numerous black-and-white photographs throughout the text. Bright red coloured boards with gilt titles to the backstrip. Minor bumping to the top backstrip edge and the rubbing to the book corners. Browning of the text block edges and there is a small smudge to the top edge of the backstrip, 1 inch from the top edge. Browning and offset tanning to the endpapers and age toning of the internal text. Original bookseller's sticker for the lower edge of the front paste-down black-and-white photographic dustwrapper, of author, against a red background with black and white titles to the front panel and backstrip. Rubbing and chipping to the dustwrapper are corners and to the top act strip edge. Heavy rubbing and creasing to the top dustwrapper edge and rubbing to the lower dustwrapper edge. Fading of the backstrip and the rear dustwrapper panel is yellowed and shows quite noticeable handling marks. There is a whole in the front fold over crease, 4 inches from the top edge. Clipping of the dustwrapper, front fold over, lower right-hand corner. The autobiography of Herbert Morrison who through the turbulent first half of the 20th century was a member of the British Labour Party who saught social reforms, and through sheer doggedness got them, working tirelessly for his constituents in London and incidentally for all of England and of the personalities from both sides of politics that he worked with and fought against.
