London : Longman, Green, Longman and Roberts, 1861. Cloth. Good. 8" by 5". None. Two volumes of Mrs Piozzi's autobiography. With a frontispiece to each volume. From the library of one Arthur C Newsum, with his bookplate to the front pastedown of each volume. With half titles to each volume and a leaf of errata. Edited, with an introduction and notes by A Hayward. Hester Thrale, or Hester Piozzi was a British diarist and author. She was also a patron of the arts. Her diaries are considered to be an important source of information on Samuel Johnson as well as 18th century life. In original cloth bindings with blind stamping to the boards. Externally, generally smart with small patches of slight rubbing to the extremities and joints. Bumping to the head and tail of spines as well as rubbing which has resulted in some loss, particularly to the head of spine to volume II. A few spots to front boards of volume II.
