About This Item

From front DJ flap: "It is not commonly known that during several periods in his life President Harry S. Truman took pen in hand to record reminiscences of his childhood, military service and early political career. These reminiscences...as well a other shorter accounts have been thoughtfully pieced together into one continuous narrative by historian Robert H. Ferrell."

"This is a warm, friendly and inspiring story of how a farmboy from Grandview, Missouri just happened to become president of the United States. But according to Ferrell, the Autobiography has another aspect worth stressing - that "because it is based entirely on manuscript material in the president's hand...There can be no doubt that the Autobiography is Harry S. Truman himself."

This copy includes a letter copy from Charles S. Murphy, President, Harry S. Truman Library Institute. The book includes some black and white photos
