About This Item
Exterior of the book shows some wear at the corners and the head and tail of the spine. One 8 mm tear to the fabric along the lower rear edge. The pages are, for the most part, clean, tight and unmarked. Minimal tanning. One plate near the middle has come loose, and a small group of pages (5) were torn and repaired with tape many years (decades?) ago (see photos). A part of the Riverside Literature Series. (For another in this series, see ST07518.) A rare book priced low due to the damage. Originally published in this series in 1886, reprinted in 1896.
Synopsis
The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin is the traditional name for the unfinished record of his own life written by Benjamin Franklin from 1771 to 1790; however, Franklin himself appears to have called the work his Memoirs. Although it had a tortuous publication history after Franklin's death, this work has become one of the most famous and influential examples of autobiography ever written.
