F. W. Cheshire for Australian Book Society, Melbourne, 1958. ? First. Hardcover. Good Condition/Poor. VI, 138 pp., preface by author. Grey coloured boards with ochre coloured illustration on front panel and ochre coloured writing on spine. The corners are slightly rubbed and shelf wear is evident to the bottom edges of the book. The head and heel of the spine are bumped. The internal pages are brown. Illustrated dustwrapper, with grey background and black and white writing on front panel and on spine. The corners are slightly rubbed that there has been some chipping to the top and to the heel of the spine. One tear on front bottom dustwrapper edge. There has been insect activity on the dustwrapper with resultant loss of the straight edge to both the top and bottom of the front fold over. There have been some stains, on the verso of the dustwrapper, confined to the spine. The staining does not intrude on the front of the dustwrapper. On the back panel there is some grubby marks and something staining in the central part of the panel. In this book the author discusses the work of the most important writers in Australia in regard to the evolution of Australian literature. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
