The first complete history of the Australian Jewish communities from the eight Jewish convicts that arrived on the First Fleet to the gold rushes and to the important contribution subsequent arrivals made to the colony's development. The dustjacket has a 2 inch split at the bottom right-hand side of the front panel, a quarter inch tear at the bottom of the spine, 80 half inch tear at the top of the rear fold over crease and ruffling of the top edge. Signed and inscribed by John Levi to Edna and Frank Bradlow (the well regarded Africana specialists and bibliophiles) on the opp title page. Included is an aerogramme letter from Levi to Frank Bradlow. Also: a review of the book, clipped from the Times Literary Supplement of pth April 1976. The Bradlows affixed one of their fetching ex-libris plates to the front pastedown. A pleasing copy. The dustjacket has a clear plastic protective cover. The dj is tidy with but light wear. The boards are handsome with mild shelving wear to the edges and corners. The contents are gratifying. They are clean, clear, generous, genial, fresh-faced. fk.
