Folio Society. 2021. Limited edition, No. 16 of 500 hand-numbered copies, quarto, pp.194, complete with the 11 illustrations by George Marston, quarter bound in calf with beechwood timber Venesta boards and stencilled inside the boards. Together with 'A Commentary', 16 pages printed letterpress on Munken paper in green wraps. Presented in a linen-covered dropover box, titled to spine and leather label blind-blocked to front, 'Printed at the Sign of the Penguins' device. Near fine condition. A faithful facsimile in a limited edition of only 500 hand numbered copies to mark the Centenary of Shackleton's death in 2021. 'Aurora Australis" was the first book published in the winter quarters of the British Antarctic Expedition during 1908-09 and reproduced here from Frank Wild's own copy (Copy No.12) with a later presentation inscription to Rudyard Kipling from Shackleton dated 1914.
