About This Item

London: Frederick Warne and Co., [1887]. Cloth. Very Good. 11" by 9.5". Not Stated. An uncommon copy of Aunt Louisa's Sunday Book, with lovely colour plates. In the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding. Ink inscription to the front free end paper, dated 1887. 24 colour plates. Collated complete. A lovely Victorian-era children's book by Laura Valentine, rendering four biblical tales into easy reading with colour illustrations. The book includes: Joseph and His Brethen, The Wonders of Providence, The Story of King David and The Proverbs of Solomon. Laura Belinda Charlotte Jewry (married name Laura Valentine; 1814-1899), was a prolific English author primarily known for writing children's literature. She wrote under the pen names Mrs. S. Valentine and Aunt Louisa. In the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding. Externally very smart, with a little bumping to the extremities and the joints. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally clean, with a little offsetting throughout and the odd handling mark. Very Good
