The 1897-copyright Author's Edition of J.M. Barrie's 'Auld Licht Idylls and Better Dead', one of the Barrie volumes in Scribner's series, 'The Novels, Tales and Sketches of J.M. Barrie'. Octavo, vivid forest green cloth, Top Edge Gilt, uncut fore-edge, frontis portrait photograph, tissue guard with 'J.M. Barrie' in red at the bottom, 289 pp. (x + 3 + 276 pp.). Fine, remarkably handsome and undamaged example, micro-wear at corners, bright and clean throughout; even the tissue guard is clean, white, and uncreased. Not too far from what its aspect must have been when new. See all scans. Early Barrie tales, in the case of both titles, based on his life in small-town, middle-class Scotland in the late 1880s. Hard to find in this superior condition. Ships in a new, sturdy, protective box, of course. L202
