About This Item

New York: E. Robinson, 1884. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Very Good. Hardcover, full cloth binding with blindstamped decorative border and gilt lettering to front cover, blindstamped rear cover, 19-1/4" x 15-1/2", 23 tinted doublepage plates, cloth backed, plus a cloth-backed doublepage index map. Laid in is a paper map "Map of Totowa and The Boght Before the Founding of Paterson in 1791": undated but feels mid-20th century. Binding has been professionally rebacked at some point, retaining cloth boards but with a leather-grained buckram spine; hinges reinforced with cloth tape; rear cover is reddish, front cover is brown, I'm not entirely sure which one is discolored, moderate buckling to cloth on rear cover--possibly binding flaw. Maps themselves are in very good condition with nice bright colors & solid binding; the thumb tabs are worn or torn off; small dampstain to bottom corners which is much more noticeable on the cloth side than the map side. Large calligraphic ownership inscription of U.V. Munson to front endpaper. Overall, a nice copy of a rather scarce local atlas. Extra postage required for international or priority shipping.
