First edition hardcover with dust jacket, published by Doubleday, 1980. This is the first American hardcover edition. The dust jacket has been protected with a clear, removable, library quality cover. Jacket is not price clipped, no tears, no chips, no edge wear to the jacket. 326 pages, red boards over black spine with the title and author name in gold on the spine. All lettering on the spine is intact and not rubbed or worn. Boards are flat and the corners are not bumped or creased, no edge wear to the boards. Binding is tight and square. No former ownership marks, no writing on the text. There are only a few foxing dots to the bottom edge of the text block. An excellent copy of this exciting thriller from MacLean about a plot to sabotage oil fields in Alaska. Beautiful map on the front and back pastedown-ffep. Jacket design by Paul Bacon.
