About This Item
Vienna: BAWAG Foundation, 2001. Pamphlet. 54, [2] pages, illustrations, wraps. 11.75 x 8 in. Very Good. Exhibition catalog for the large installation AVL-Ville (May 10 - August 26, 2001), for which Lieshout designed a compound fully outfitted with numerous objects and spaces for living: food preparation (a kitchen, an area for growing produce), meals (communal dining tables), and waste disposal (a compost toilet). The spaces and instruments are complemented by watercolor plans for communal living and mock-ups of bank notes. These are sandwiched between photographs of the opening night of the work (for which a large feast of goulash, potatoes, and beer was held) and members of AVL staging various activities (surgery, machining, farming). Sponsored by the Bank für Arbeit und Wirtschaft (BAWAG) Foundation. Preface by Rudi Fuchs and essay ("Mealtime Vienna") by Jennifer Allen. Scarce. Only one location in the United States (Getty) reported by WorldCat as of 2023.
