Pristine interior.. 2 vols. Both mocha cloth/boards; black lettering. Volume I: xviii + 323 pp.; bw frontis and 42 additional bw illustrations. Volume II: xiv + 331 pp.; bw frontis and 27 additional bw illustrations. The Da Capo two-volume reprint of The Walpole Society original from 1929. This edition is Volume 31 of the Da Capo Press Series in Architecture and Decorative Arts, edited by Adolf K. Placzek. Many of the same categories are included in both volumes, just different years. Listings include all sorts of decorative arts, horology, architecture, stone carving and cutting, stucco work, arts and manufacturers, museums and associations, and more. Very thorough and a wonderful reference for historians, art researchers, etc.A compilation of advertisements from eighteenth-century newspapers relating to the arts and crafts in Philadelphia, Maryland, and South Carolina, grouped by trade.
