Black and white pictorial paper covers have light bumping and creasing to edges and corners and light overall scuffing and soiling. Binding tight (NO spine crease). Pages clean and unmarked. NOT Ex-library. NO remainder marks. Includes two 8 page sections with black and white photos. [From back cover] Fils de luthier et de musicien, Arthur LeBlanc a pris ses premieres lecons de violon avec son pere, Job LeBlanc, des sa tendre enfance. Apres avoir donne son premier concert au Concert Hall de Moncton en 1916, il fait deja la fierte de son Acadie natale. Il etudie au seminaire de Quebec, pour ensuite s'inscrire au prestigieux New England Conservatory of Music de Boston. Puis il s'embarque pour Paris et s'inscrit a l'Ecole normale
 de musique, ou il recoit l'enseignement de Jacques Thibaud. Au cours des annees qui suivent, LeBlanc fait des debuts remarques a Carnegie Hall (il est "the Acadian poet of the violin", selon le New York Times), joue a la Maison-Blanche et se lance dans une importante tournee de concerts. Mais derriere cet eclatant succes se cache la faille. Le surmenage provoque une terrible depression nerveuse chez Arthur LeBlanc. Le manquede connaissances sur la maladie mentale a son epoque le prive de soins adequats. Arthur LeBlanc cherchera toujours a retrouver l'eclat de ses premieres annees. Renee Maheu donne ici un portrait sensible et fouille de ce grand musicien. Elle brosse enmeipe temps un tableau de la vie musicale au Canada et en Europe au cours des annees '30 et 40. Renee Maheu esl journaliste et biographe. Elle est l'auteur de biographies des chanteurs Raoul Jobin, Leopold Simoneau et Pierrette Marie, ainsi que du pianiste-accompagnateur John Newmark.
