Browne and Nolan, Ireland, 1959. Edition Unstated. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Good Condition/Fair. In 1871 Arthur Griffith, one of the main architects of modern Ireland, was born in a quiet Dublin street. Forty-nine years later signed the treaty with Great Britain establishing a sovereign Irish State. He lived in one of the most eventful periods of Irish history, one that witnessed the rise & fall of Parnell, the birth of the Gaelic League & of the Anglo-Irish literary movement, the launching of Sinn Fein - a new political organization founded by Griffith himself.... Old bookshop stamp inside front pastedown. A previous owner has stamped his name on the top & bottom of text block. There are small chips and tears to extremities of dust jacket. DJ. has some shelf wear as well as some marks. Size: 180mm - 250mm. 400 pages. Slight foxing front/rear pages, but body of book mostly clean and unfoxed. Dust Jacket has some shelf-wear as well as some bumping to corners and extremities. Dust Jacket price-clipped. Previous owner's inscription, lavish, in ink. MC Quantity Available: 1.
