About This Item

Harry N Abrams Inc, New York, 1976. Book. Fine Condition. Cloth. 612 pages. Hardcover, bound in gray cloth covered boards and wrapped in an illustrated paper dustjacket. Illustrated endpapers. Sunning to the spine of the dustjacket, with minor wear to its edges, although now encased in a Mylar sleeve. Previous owner's bookplate remains affixed to the front pastedown. Else, the binding is solid and the interior is clean and clear of markings. Long considered to be the essential Bible for print collectors, the bookplate at the front indicates that this came from the library of David Whitney, a pre-eminent art collector and friend to many of the greatest modernist artists. Jasper Johns designed the bookplate especially for him, and it is this bookplate that is affixed to the front pastedown. Inside flap of the dustjacket is slightly wrinkled, with some transference of creasing to the bookplate that is attached only at the top edge..
