About This Item
[Washington, D.C.] Blair & Rives, printers. Senate Doc. 107. 26th Congress, 1st Session. 1840. 66 pages. Pamphlet, removed. Very good condition.
This important report contains communications primarily written in 1838 and 1839 between the major political players during the Aroostook War, a.k.a., "The Pork and Beans War." Maine and the United Kingdom feuded over establishing an international boundary line between Maine and the British Colony of New Brunswick. An actual "war" never occurred and the matter was eventually settled with The Webster-Ashburton Treaty of 1842.
