About This Item

Boston: Charles River Books, 1981. Hardcover. Near Fine/Near Fine. 8vo. 79 p.p. Black cloth boards with silver lettering to spine. Bumping to corners. Illustrated dust jacket has some bumping to corners, a few creases, a few damp spots. Gregory Aftandilian follows the American Committee for the Independence of Armenia's increasingly desperate and finally unsuccessful nine year struggle through a maze of conflicting interests: President Woodrow Wilson's fatal indecisiveness and preoccupation with the Leage of Nations; American missionary opposition to Armenian Nationalism; French and Russian territorial aspirations; and American oil interests in Armenia, party politics, and growing isolationism.
