No jacket, as issued. 339 pages. 5.5" x 7.75" tall. Burgundy silk cloth gilt titled on spine, gilt border around front panel, with debossed gilt square with lighthouse within on front. Very clean and unmarked; top edge gilt; fore edge and bottom edge rough cut. Sewn binding tight. Frontispiece: a full portrait of F. Hopkinson Smith, onion skin protected, from a painting by Henry R. Rittenberg, and two additional plates, one from a painting by the author and one from a drawing by A. I. Keller. Pages with large margins, very clean and completely unmarked, lightly and evenly toned. A group of the author's friends gather around a table at the Marmoset Inn (Normandy) to tell their tales. F. Hopkinson Smith (1838-1915), American author, artist and engineer (he built the foundation of the Statue of Liberty). Publisher: New York. Charles Scribners Sons, 1912.
