Dark blue cloth, titles and illustration stamped in gilt on the spine, illustration stamped in blind on the cover, Borzoi device in blind on back, blue-gray topstain, fore-edge untrimmed: moderate moisture transfer of dust jacket to board edges, leaves crisp and bright. In the two color illustrated dust jacket with price $5.00 intact on the front flap: edges rubbed, spine ends chipped, closed tears and scars to rear panel. First published by Viking in 1934 as To the North!, this revision of the classic survey is brought up to date. More than a hundred explorers covered including Frobisher, Hudson, Bering, Dezhnev, Wrangel, Ross, Parry, Franklin, Nansen, Peary, Nordenskiöld, Wegener, MacMillan, Stefansson, Cook, Papanin, Andrée, Amundsen, Ellsworth, Wilkins and Schmidt.

Dust jacket is now preserved in a removable clear archival sleeve.
