Large 8vo.; in the publisher's blue embossed cloth binding, with the spine elaborately titled in gilt; complete with frontispiece and 40 full page numbered plates and numerous in-text illustrations; a signature or two a bit loose but all holding well.~~First published in 1812 as Mechanical Exercises; then in 1831 and The Mechanic's Companion and again in 1845 and 1850. An important book that was used successfully in the 19th century in the building and construction trade.~~This edition was a 27 page illustrated appendix on the steam engine, with engravings.~~A wonderful compendium of how it was done back in the day.~~. Very Good binding.
