Cloth cover is embossed with gold, clean, slipcase in good condition. Law played a major role in the rebuilding of San Francisco after the quake of 1906. A member of the committee of 50 he helped oversee the rebuilding of the city and was key in getting the 1915 Panama Pacific Exposition to be held in San Francisco. Law made three distinct fortunes in many diverse fields in his lifetime and his wealth was not of importance to him but it was important to Lauriston as a way to fund his creativity. This is the story of Law and his brother from bookbinders, Viavi Patent Medicine providers to ladies, franchise dealers of health products to land owners and developers. Great slice of early San Francisco and California history. Contains B&W and color photos of Law properties and unusual San Francisco photos, glossary, bibliography, index, 194 pages.
