About This Item

Text has several underlined passages. Binding is bright tight, and square. Volume is a very solid copy. "The present book...is the result of my life-long interest in the Arabs and their world. It presents some of the things I have learned from talking to Arabs over many years, informally in most cases, but not infrequently in formal interviews as well, and from observing them and absorbing innumerable details of their behavior, attitudes and expressions, movements and gestures, and words both uttered and left unsaid." p. 5.

Synopsis

The Arab Mind is a non-fiction cultural psychology book by cultural anthropologist Raphael Patai, who also wrote The Jewish Mind. It was first published in 1973, and later revised in 1983. An update (Patai has since died) is planned for 2007. The book advocates a tribal-group-survival explanation for the driving factors behind Arab culture.
