According to family tradition, Mary Jane Megquier was the first white woman to cross the Isthmus of Panama during the Gold Rush, She left her home in Winthrop, Maine to accompany her husband, a physician, to San Francisco. Illustrations. 99 pages. Printed at the Ward Ritchie Press.
