About This Item
The First UK printing published by Allan Wingate, London in 1955. The BOOK is in Very Good+ condition. Mild pushing at the spine ends. Gilt tiling to the spine remains bright. Very early splaying of the front board. Light offsetting to the blank endpapers. A neat penned name to the upper front blank end-paper. Light toning to the text-block and page edges due to the cheap quality of the paper stock used. The fragile WRAPPER is neatly price-clipped and is in Very Good- condition. Some losses at the spine ends and corners . Some moderate edge wear with nicks, small closed tears and light rubbing in places. A larger diagonal closed tear to the front panel which has been reinforced with tape to the verso. Some other small tape repairs to the verso. Some toning to the folds and spine. Despite these issues, the John Craxton artwork remains striking in the removable Brodart archival cover. A cheap production and now very scarce to find in any collectible condition. Ashton Rare Books welcomes direct contact.
