Frank Dobie, known as the Sierra Madre Edition, from the library of Senator Clinton P. Anderson of New Mexico.. Octavo, xvii, [1], 366pp. Quarter brown cloth, terracotta boards, title on printed label on spine. Stated "First Edition, Published March 1939" on copyright page. Housed in the publisher's matching black slipcase, title and matching limitation on spine. Additional metallic spine label bound at rear endpaper. Includes an additional suite of 5 illustrated plates by Tom Lea. The Sierra Madre Edition was limited to 265 copies, all signed by J. Frank Dobie and the illustrator, Tom Lea. This is number 11. An attractive work. Clinton P. Anderson (1895-1975) served as United States The Secretary of Agriculture in the Truman Administration (1945-1948), then Senator from New Mexico (1949-1973).
