About This Item
London: Thomas Nelson and Sons, 1967. 1st edition. Cloth in dust jacket. Light shelfwear. Very good. 208pp., introduction, illustrated with b/w photographic plates, index. Dr. Comfort presents a history of the scare mongering practiced by doctors in the guise of 'frighten them into being good'. With this aim they have depicted sex as disastrous and dangerous, birth control as a health hazard, venereal disease and bastardy as safeguards of virtue and placed chastity belts on children (or castrated them) to cure masturbation.
