About This Item

New York, New York: Medical Encyclopedia, Inc., 1955. Minor edge and corner wear, lightly scuffed and scratched, no dj, corners are lightly bumped and rubbed, some shelf wear, high school stamp on the ffep, overall a clean used first edition! Light blue cloth with gilt lettering on the front board and spine. 128 very clean unmarked and uncreased informative and educational pages! "One of the great economic developments in the field of antibiotics is the use of these drugs in feeds for the promotion of animal growth. During the past few years there has been a steady increase in the amount of antibiotics ---- largely, penicillin, chlortetracycline, oxytetracycline, and bacitracin ---- used for this purpose. In 1954 alone, some 490,000 pounds of these drugs were incorporated into feeds, rendering the farmer tremendous savings. Because antibiotics stimulate the growth of swine, chicks, and poults, they cut down the feed consumption of these animals, since they can be sent to slaughter much sooner and in a healthier condition than would have been prior to the use of these drugs." ---- from the Foreword.. First Edition / First Printing. Blue Cloth. Very Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Hardcover.
