Sold by Whittaker and Co., London. Fifth Thousand.. 'The young lady (Anderson, Bessie, 1815-1842) whose memoir we have in this elegant little work was the ward of the celebrated Romanist prelate Dr. Doyle one of the very ablest perhaps also one of the best of his order.
The notices of the life and death of this eminent person interwoven with the biography are curious and most interesting. It was thought and not without reason that Dr. Doyle died a Protestant, but his deathbed was guarded by priests and few of his dying expressions have been recorded.
There are scenes in the book of striking interest and much beauty."'[Edinburgh Evening Post ]
