Illustrator: photographs & maps. second-hand copy, the book was X library and in its component parts, and has been rebound, retaining the front and rear panels, and all the maps and end pages. The only library indications are a bookplate on the verso of the front end paper, and accession number in ink on the title page and repeated on the rear paste down.photographic frontispiece, a number of maps through the text including foldout maps, and other blue toned photographs.In rather good order given its own engines. Contents clean, minor spotting to end papers and prelims, original dust jacket has a few small pieces missing and has been repaired in the past, old Sellotape markings, new repairs are with archival quality tape. Lars Christensen made and/or sponsored several voyages to the Antarctic 1927-3. Very slight spotting and browning to edges and preliminaries. Inner hinge split. The Second Issue has the extra four maps. It is thought these maps were not ready for the First Edition. 16 x 23 cm. Publisher's blue cloth with gilt titles to spine, and map endpapers. Corners slightly bumped. A very good copy with the illustrated dust-jacket. Price-clipped Jacket lightly browned and shelf worn. Several chips, some quite large, from corners, edges and spine head and tail. Some tape stains on underside of dustjacket. The whaling magnate and expedition financier Christensen made three journeys to the Antarctic between 1930-34, one of which took him on a circumnavigation of the continent. Spence 292.. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Fair.

Minor wear at the top and bottom of the spine and top of front joint. Small old stain on front panel. A very presentable copy in the very scarce wrapper. Spence 292; Jenkins p.89. With the illustrated dust-jacket. Spotting and light browning to edges and preliminaries. Boards slightly bowed, with some sunned marks and points of rubbing corresponding to losses from the jacket. Corners bumped. Price-clipped Jacket lightly browned and spotted with rubbing to joints. Several chips, some quite large, from corners and spine head and tail. A very good copy. The whaling magnate and expedition financier's impressions edited from diary entries made during trips to the Antarctic in 1930-31, 1932-33 and 1933-34.
