Washington, D.C.: United States Treasury Dept., 1872. John Jay Knox's bookplate "With the Compliments of Jno. Jay Knox, Comptroller of the Currency" pasted to front pastedown. Knox was the 4th Comptroller General to serve in this office, and also the longest-serving ; his time in office lasting 12 years, from 1872-1884. Top edge of page block soiled. Dark blue cloth boards have some spotting near the top edge. Contents are clean, tight and unmarked. A wonderful resource for anyone studying the history of banking in the U.S., and let us all hope that more than a few people currently are doing just that !. First Edition. Cloth. Very Good/No Jacket, As Issued.
