About This Item

NY: Boston Herald. G PB. nd (ca 1946). Chockful of crocheting and sewing projects with pictures. Foreword by Anne Cabot about a course at Cooper Union in NY . taught by Dr. George Lawton called "Aging Successfully" in which he says it's fun to be old and much more restful than banging about in one's younger days. He advocates crafts and moving out of the "big cities to places with back porches, town politics and a slower pace. And be your age. Wrinkles are the badge of a select few with experience in living." Craft projects include two infant's bibs, hat & bag to crochet, soap saver crochet bag for the bath, last minute doll from a sock, wrapped turban, how to take care of fine wools, hat and gloves, red chenille slippers, how to dress up your hairdo are all with instructions. Familiar Places on back cover talks about service men returning who have seen the sights but want home to look just the same. Nice war item. Laid in instructions for "All Purpose" Crocheted Edgings. Tanning on some pages, owner name on ft cover. .
