Cassell and Company, 1932. First Edition. Cloth. Good/No Jacket. Stemberg - Color Frontis. Hardcover/ no DJ, Good+ to VG condition; 409 pages, 9.5 x 7"", color frontis illus., numerous sepia text photos. Appears to be First Edition, year 1932 on half-title page & no note of further printings. Flexible blue cloth hardcover binding tight & square w/ light soil & rubbing, light sunfade to & top edge of covers; 1/8"" fray at top of spine. NO bumps or scuffs. Bright & unblemished oval portrait vignette on front cover. Spine sunfaded to tan, but all gold spine lettering & bands intact & totally legible- a little tarnished. Bright, unmarred gilt top edge of text block. Handsome endpapers w/ soft pink & blue design are clean & bright. Text is tight, clean & unmarked w/ lightest toning. NO hinge splits, owner names, etc.; NOT ex library. Still a well preserved copy, displays nicely- esp. front cover w/ portrait.
