Large 4to (8 1/4 x 11 1/4"), cloth, some fading and faint crease on 2 panels else VG in dust wrapper (dw later, frayed at spine ends). Stated 1st edition. On one side of the large accordion - folded sheet are beautiful full color lithographs of more than 50 animals. On the other side, the same animals appear in the same setting but with their backs turned and done in one-color. This was the first picture book for nursery age children that the D'Aulaires wrote and it is a stunning picture book featuring some of their best work. See Bader p.222.
