The Macmillan Company, New York, 1943. Reprint. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Good Condition/No Dust Jacket. Illustrator: Photographic and Illustrations. Preface by author and index. Black-and-white photographic frontispiece, showing cattle drinking in a stream. The text is illustrated with black and white photographs, black-and-white illustrations and graphs. Green coloured cloth covered boards with black coloured illustration, decoration and titles to the front panel and black coloured titles to the back strip. A book that was first published in 1913, dealing with all aspects of farming and rural life. The author goes through the various farm animals, including how to plough the land with various teams of horses. Dairy cattle, beef cattle, wool and mutton sheep are discussed along with swine and fowl. The book is showing age and use. Softening and rubbing of the back strip edges, bumping of the book corners and rubbing to the lower book edges and either side of the back strip. Handling marks and rubs to the book panels. Uniform tanning of the text block edges with age toning of the pages. Foxing to the endpages and a little scattered foxing throughout the text. Original bookseller's sticker to the lower right-hand corner of the front paste-down. Between pages 20 and 21 the book has been "over open" and the underlying webbing is visible - please see photograph. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. [4], V - IX, [3], 3 - 615, [5] pages,.
