About This Item

n.p.: X-Ray Book & Novelty Co., 2022.. 4to. Illustrated broadside. First edition. Limited to only 33 copies signed, dated and numbered by Panter. The broadside features multiple small drawings of cowboys, buffalos, covered wagons, cacti and skeletons, and various other archetypal images as seen in films about the old west. Included is a separate sheet printing Panter's artist's statement about the piece: "I was trying to portray the inquiries of 'cowboys' on the American landscape, newly denuded of native peoples. A message that is hard for us to get, after a century of romantic power fantasies in movies and print." As new.
