First edition of this volume in the "Makers of the American Tradition" series. From the library of Senator Adlai E. Stevenson III (born 1930) and his father before him, Illinois governor and twice presidential candidate Adlai E. Stevenson II (1900-65) -- whose large rubberstamped signature in black ink appears on the front flyleaf.
