First printing of this rare Burgess item, featuring beloved Burgess characters including Peter Rabbit, Prickly Porky, and Little Joe Otter. With a hilly forest set and 24 play pieces to cut out, this set commemorates the formation of Peter Rabbit's formation of THE ANCIENT AND SUPREME ORDER OF QUADDIES - a coalition of the four-legged animals of the meadow, forest, and pool. In the accompanying story of the group on the envelope, Burgess notes that even the area birds were later admitted to the QUADDIES, "quite as it should be." Rare. 9'' x 16.5'' (envelope); 19.5'' x 28.5'' (card). Large folded card with perforated sections printed one side only, illustrated in color. In original red and black pictorial envelope with Burgess story to front. Envelope with chipping and extensive tape repairs to edges. Lower perforated section detached but present. A couple folds with a bit of wear. Clean and bright.
