Synopsis
Momaday's tale, The Ancient Child: A Novel , retells a Kiowa myth in which a boy turns into a bear. It combines Native American lore and legends of the wild west into a lyrical story about Locke Setman, an adopted Native American who yearns for a return to the lands of his tribe.
