The first edition of this interesting memoir about James Lees-Milne's life returning from World War Two. The first edition of this work. In the original price-clipped dustwrapper. A memoir about the life of James Lees-Milne, recounting his life after 1941, when he rejoined the Headquarters Staff of the National Trust. Illustrated with a frontispiece. Lees-Milne was an English writer, and an expert on country houses, working for the National Trust from 1936 to 1973. In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, smart. A small amount of bumping to the head and tail of the spine. A couple of spots to the fore edge. Dustwrapper with some discolouration and marks, and minor edge wear. A few light spots to the reverse of the dustwrapper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Very Good Indeed

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
