About This Item

Book Collector, London, first edition, 1990. Printed wrappers, 8vo,. viii, 169 pp. The fascinating account of the operation of a "ring" (including most of the leading booksellers of the day) at a book auction held in 1919: the Ruxley sale realised a total of just over £3,714 for the vendor, but after the ring had completed its settlements the total was at least £19,696. The authors show in detail exactly how the ring operated, in a study packed with information, interest and anecdote. Wrappers slightly faded and slightly rubbed, otherwise Near Very Good.
