First appearance ever in pulp magazine / digest form of the story "After the Festival" part of the Thousand Worlds series and later retitled in hardback book form Dying of the Light, the author's first novel ever published the same year, complete four book (Part I, II, III, IV) science fiction serial. Scarce signature from author George R.R. Martin on the title page of Part I of IV of the series. Nominated for both the Hugo Award for Best Novel and the British Fantasy Award.
