Pictorial endpapers with astronaut in spacesuit. 190 pp. In the fall of 1958, the US handed a group of engineers a most challenging assignment to send a manned space capsule into orbit. This was called "Project Mercury". Here author describes the design, construction, and testing of the space capsule.
