Large Octavo. xvi + 740 pp + xxxv, stated First Edition, bookplate on upper inner pastedown, signed in ink on the ffep by H.L. Mencken. Preface, text in Six parts, each with numerous sub-chapters, followed by alphabetized referemce of words and phrases, index. rear gutter age-toned a bit. 6.6" x 9.5" black cloth boards, with dimmed else intact gilt spine letters and design, lower forecorner tip bent just slightly, top spine cloth with a few loose threads, bottom spine cloth turned in, else intact. Gray stain top edge VG. fore-edge and bottom edge, still VG. Unclipped DJ chipped top 1/4" or less,spine sun-tanned, else black letters & rear panel text VG. .
