This is a pictorial history of Native Americans by anthropologist Oliver La Farge author of the 1930 Pulitzer Prize-winning novel Laughing Boy. The text is based on the author's Pictorial History of the American Indian published by Crown Publishers, Inc. in 1956. This edition was especially prepared for young readers. Lavishly illustrated with color photos, archival prints, contemporary art, and specially commissioned paintings by Andre Durenceau on every page. Lucid and thorough presentation and highly rewarding for adult readers as well.
