About This Item
New York: Doubleday, Doran & Company 1939, 1st edition. (4to) 270pp. Very good, no dust jacket. Blue cloth with gilt decoration and paste-down image on the front cover. Frontispiece, photographs, bibliography, index. The top and bottom of the spine are lightly worn, the edges are lightly faded and bumped, and the endpapers are toned. "Besides a thorough knowledge of historical Staffordshire wares - in which she is, of course, by no means unique - Mrs. Larsen possesses other qualifications which in total are shared by few others. She has ample resources of time at her disposal, and therewith a limitless store of energy and patience plus that sixth sense in research that leads some students directly to the most obscure hiding places of knowledge... In the upshot, she has produced a reference volume on American historical Staffordshire china that immediately takes its place as a standard work on the subject, and that is not likely ever to be superseded" - from the prefatory note. (Antiques, China--Porcelain, Collectibles, Collectors' Guides, Porcelain, Pottery, Staffordshire Porcelain, Tableware).
