About This Item
NY: American Heritage Publishing Co., Inc., 1975. First Edition. Signed presentation from Jensen on a front page: "To Bruce Kennett, Fellow enthusiast in many fields- A clear bond & a full head of steam! Oliver Jensen. March 6, 1986." Jensen, along with James Parton and Joseph J. Thorndike, Jr, founded American Heritage magazine in 1954. He eventually left the editorship of this magazine to write a book on one of his favorite subjects: "The American Heritage History of Railroads in America." His love of the heroic age of steam power in this country manifested itself in even more corporeal form when he founded the Valley Railroad, which brought live steam back to Connecticut, and which flourishes today. He died in 2005. Kennett is a New Hampshire- based visual storyteller: book design, exhibit and catalogue design, and photo murals. Large quarto: decorative cloth in original slipcase; 320 pages. Illustrated.. Very Good (covers nice; contents clean & tight with little rippling first few pages from tipped-in bookplate by another owner); moderate wear, particularly lower edge of spine) slipcase. [A heavy book so postage may be extra].
