The first edition was a slim paper-covered volume with 30 woodcuts which became a popular and useful guide. It was subsequently expanded and is one of those books that got better over time. Most of the other editions did not have the fine colored frontispiece of fruit that this edition has. This edition has an extensive listing of fruit varieties and descriptions.
